Tyler Mars, Sushi Chef from Deus Customs on Vimeo.
Californian come Canggu Sushi Chef, Tyler Mars has hopped across the pond to take over the Camperdown kitchen this Friday to serve up his unique take on Japanese cuisine.
Originally hailing from Santa Barbara, Mars spent the better part of his younger years surfing, skating and taping Sex Pistols, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden posters to his wall. He parents sent him to the kitchen for gettinhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifg in trouble at boarding school, he never left.
For over ten years now, he's been serving up sushi. As well as being Sushi Chef at Deus Ex Machina, Canggu - he's a partner in Zenbu in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. Tyler is credited with dishes such as the Sid Fishous, Eel Repute, Thunderbolt 555 or The Mango Vajango - often starting with a base ingredient or the name of the dish and working from there. Can2Mex DVD Preview
TOURATECH started this journey in Vancouver, Canada, and finished in Tecate, Mexico, in December 2006. BMW's release of new lightweight enduro bikes REQUIRED a test tour for the new travel equipment! Because the G650X had only the original fuel tank, we chose the western USA where there is a lot of offroad, and also a lot of fuel. The Touratech Research & Development equipped the two HP2's and the G650X Challenge with a host of TT travel gear to test the new accessories under the most demanding conditions. Test items included pannier sets and side tanks on the HP2, and protection, lighting and soft luggage on the G650X. And of course they scheduled their trip to visit the grand opening of TOURATECH-USA's new store in Seattle!

DPAIN | THE UNUSUAL SUSPECT by CHAPTER
DPAIN | THE UNUSUAL SUSPECT from CHAPTER on Vimeo.
The unusual suspect: the eighth wonder of the world, a friend, brother and overall rambling man Derek Despain has never been one to settle down. A week of knowing Despain can somewhat be related to the feeling of trying to find a mysteriously lost set of keys within the confines of your own home I know they are here somewhere? Honestly, what could my keys possibly be doing right now? Alright, now, where the fuck are they? Regardless, the past years of acquainting
myself with the guy has been a refreshing experience to say the least. Through a spectrum of highs, lows, different jobs, physical confrontations, women and long nights of boozing, it has always been an seamless idea of calling upon the soft- spoken, yet uniquely dark, humorous vagabond, Despain. As a key family member to the CHAPTER brigade of individuals, we sat down with Despain to criticize his life on a motorcycle and some of his most recent endeavors.

The Surfer's Journal Biographies : Gerry Lopez and Barry Kanaiaupuni
Hawaiian surfers Gerry Lopez and Barry Kanaiaupuni represent the yin and yang of wave riding. Lopez, the elegant tube rider famous for his slouched, ultra-cool statements at Pipeline, has become a timeless icon for the soul of surfing. His very name has become a sort of shorthand for surfing style. Never considered a particularly competitive man, he has nonetheless maintained a slot in that ultimate: the Pipe lineup. His explorations in Indonesia have inspired two generations of adventure travelers in the unending quest for hidden perfection.
Barry Kanaiaupuni or BK to just about everyone, has always had his feet planted on the pillars of speed and power. Famed for his Sunset Beach speed runs on skinny, javelin-like boards, BK artfully transitioned from longboard stylist to prototypical North Shore power merchant. This edition of The Surfer's Journal lets us study two of the sport's most enduring and revered surfers, including their finest rides at their favorite waves.

When Josh, Paul and Duncan rode into the wintery depths of the Australian Alps, they may not have planned on adventure, but that's exactly what they found. HOW of WHY by Corey Rich
HOW of WHY from Corey Rich on Vimeo.
I have often said, if I wasn't a filmmaker and photographer, I would be a teacher. There's great satisfaction in sharing knowledge & experience to help spark the creative fire in others.
When Nikon approached me to be a part of the D4 release project not only did they ask me to produce a video and stills, showing off the attributes of the new camera, they were also looking for a behind the scenes video spot detailing how "WHY" came together. This was an amazing opportunity, as it allowed me to simultaneously be both a filmmaker/photographer and a teacher. Though this meant everyone in the crew had to work twice as hard, especially Dane Henry. Capturing the action behind the scenes became just as important as the hero footage and stills. "HOW of WHY" is a great illustration of everyone's hard work and ability to multitask, plus proof that we all had a lot fun along the way!
In this spirit, now is a perfect opportunity to thank the key teachers that shared their knowledge with me. Thank you Bob Porter, George Egbert, James DuPratt, Jim McNay and Greg Lewis - I am forever grateful for the time you spent helping me to find my passion for adventure and storytelling.

FIAT 500 Abarth -- The legend of Karl Abarth
The new FIAT 500 keeps alive the Scorpion spirit of Karl Abarth. Born in Austria in 1908, Abarth injected his fiery winning philosophy into every car he touched. His customized modifications forever changed automobile performance after FIAT introduced the 500 in 1959. He turned the youthful, sporty car into the "small but wicked" champion -- of the race track and for the people. Today, the FIAT 500 Abarth runs on Karl's legacy and passion.
The legend lives on.
